J-safety influence conflict self-censorship topic prone to safety

Definition of journalists' safety

Journalists' safety is an attack directed at the journalistic corps (journalists, journalistic associations, and media infrastructure), potentially compromising the well-being of professionals or newsrooms' capacity to shoulder news production and societal role.

Future plans for research on journalists' safety

My short-term plan is to conduct collaborative research on J-safety in the Horn of Africa. The region is volatile, with continuous armed conflict, drought, and political instability. It poses a danger to journalists, especially independent media within the countries and transnational media correspondents.
Research focuses:
Digital, Physical, Legal, Credibility
Methods used in research:
Interviews
Countries of research focus:
Ethiopia

Areas interested in collaborating with NGOs

Training on digital safety (CFOM, Freedom House, Free Press Unlimited, or any other which curates the UN Plan of Action)

Areas interested in collaborating with other researchers

Legal and Digital safety
