Academic research consistently shows that the Venezuelan media environment is shaped by political polarization, economic instability, and systematic mechanisms of censorship and informational control. Within this context, journalists operate in highly vulnerable conditions, under constant monitoring and with limited resources—particularly in the digital sphere. The disparity between physical safety and other dimensions underscores the presence of indirect yet critical threats that significantly impact journalistic work. These include labour precarity, legal harassment, self-censorship, and emotional exhaustion.
